If you’ve heard of Khloe Kardashian then there’s no doubt you will have heard about the cult fashion brand Good American. Breaking down barriers for curvier women, initially focusing on denim the brand has taken the denim world by storm.

Launching a fashion brand that focused on a pain point resonated with women across the world and became the most successful denim launch to date. We cover everything from the brand story, fit and answer your burning question is Good American worth it.

Good American

Who owns Good American?

Khloe Kardashian, the American personality and business mogul owns Good American with the British style guru and business women Emma Grede. They launched Good American together in 2016.

Emma focuses on the logistics, warehousing and product while Khloe heads up the marketing.

How did Good American start?

Emma Grede always had a passion for fashion but realised that her strengths were not in creativity, they were in fact in getting things done. Grede's strengths were in logistics, negotiations and above all working with creative people to bring their ideas to life. She started up an entertainment marketing agency, ITB where she worked with Kris Jenner.

Moving on from ITB, Grede pitched the Good American to Kris Jenner with the idea of launching the brand with Khloe Kardashian. After pitching the idea to Khloe, it was an instant light bulb moment. Khloe related to those struggles when buying clothes and the pair instantly aligned and locked in their principles from the offset.

Is Good American a sustainable brand?

Good American is a Certified B Corporation. Certified B Corporations is an international movement used to accessing the sustainability of brands. For your business to become certified it must meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance. It must be transparent on all business functions and initiatives and be held accountable for balancing the planet and purpose with profit.

Denim production has one of the biggest impacts on natural resources in comparison to other garment manufacturing because of the amount of water needed and chemicals used. The Good American collections consider the environmental impact of their products, making sure their products are made from 70% responsible materials such as organic and recycled cotton.

Where are Good American jeans made?

Good American uses American distributors and the brand’s factory is located close to its LA headquarters.

Good American Sizing

Good American made their mark because of their inclusive sizing. With sizes ranging from 00-24, the brand also makes sure you can view the garment on every size model. Good American is the first brand in the industry to require that all of its retail partners stock the full-size range, sharing their key message. They also require the sizing to be displayed together rather than in a separate plus-size section reiterating their inclusive messaging.

There are different size guides for each collection. At The Hut, we stock the jeans from the Good Legs, Good Waist and Good 90’s collections. If you need more specific measurements to get the size right, please use the size guides to help you.

Which Good American jeans are the best?

The Good American skinny styles are very popular. The main reason everyone loves them is that they are so comfortable, the 1% elastane gives them a nice amount of stretch so that they don’t dig in or become uncomfortable when you are sitting down. They also make your bum look good which is always a perk!
Another best seller is the mom jean styles in the Good 90s collection. A trending fit at the moment, Good American have a huge range with different washes, distressed, low rise and high-waisted cuts.

"Made by women, for women. All bodies. All Sizes. No compromises."

Good American Apparel Collection

The Good American apparel draws many similarities to Khloe Kardashians' hero combo - body top and jeans. Introducing body tops, loungewear, athleisure and then also releasing swimwear, another one of Emma Grede’s fashion pain points the brand now pretty much covers all wardrobe bases.
Overall the brand aesthetic is staple investment fashion, that you can wear over and over again. The focus is neutral and often plain colourways, they have a minimal but modern look with basics such as tank tops but also backless jumpsuits that you would want to wear on a night out.
