Swedish brand Cheap Monday started life in 2004, renowned for the introduction of premium jeans with an affordable price tag. The original ethos of the brand, high quality jeans at an affordable price, still stands today with all of the Cheap Monday jeans on The Hut costing less than £55, plus free delivery.

But to understand the full story behind Cheap Monday, we need to rewind way back to the turn of the 21st century, when Örjan Andersson and Adam Friberg (along with a couple of friends) decided to open a second hand store in the outskirts of Stockholm. Only open on Saturday and Sunday, the store was named Weekend. Soon after, thanks to the success of the store, a full time, larger store was opened in the centre of Stockholm aptly named Weekday.

The store expanded from solely second hand products to high fashion and premium denim, but they had spotted a gap in the market. High quality jeans were always expensive, there was no happy medium of quality and price. This is where we welcome Cheap Monday jeans, beginning with a pair named ‘Tight’, a super skinny jean with elastic stretch and no big price tag, sold exclusively in the Weekday store. It didn’t take long for Cheap Monday jeans to become incredibly sought after, and 2005 saw the first full collections with distribution moving into selected stores around the world.
