DBZ indeed!

I bought this game for a fraction of the price thanks to thehut.com. I really felt it is the most true-to anime Dragon Ball Z game indeed! But I also believe that it is to much of a good thing... I feel that what the game really lacks is any technique as all fights are won through a kind of random guessing game. Also i feel a bit annoyed about having to read a lot of jargon before each level is a complete waste of time, they could have shown us some actual clips from Dragon Ball Z! Overall It is awesome, but i feel it is perhaps too awesome...

Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi was fun and entertaining but it took a while to figure out the controls. Other than that a great game, especially for multi-player battles!

Terrible game

2

The game is crap. You could finish the whole game with literally one button, which isn't really fun and requires no skill at all. You don't get the freedom of doing exactly what you want to do, as you can only do the special attack at a certain point which is really disappointing, unlike in Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2. The fighting engine is poor, and the actions just repeat quite a lot in every fight, making it feel like you're just doing the same thing over and over again, making it really boring. The only good about the game is the graphics, a nice change yet this isn't enough to make me want to play that game ever again. I played for an hour and decided to sell it back to a nearby gaming shop. Even though I'm a big Dragon Ball fan this is nothing like expected, so trust me: if you buy this you're going to be really disappointed.

Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi

The game it self based on the anime, but it has an individual mode which can be pretty fun. This Hero mode which grants you the power to choose and develope your own personal DBZ character and explore the world with it The gameplay is pretty much intense and fast, based on the long combos the player can create with the rights combination. THe fight are like small cut scenes, but still behold the fighting experience.Multiplayer part (1 vs. 1) is bit different than the normal fight like in Tekken6.The screen is split in the middle vertically so the 3d movement can be explored without any issues. There are 2 different type of attack in the game, one is the so called "Blast Range" which allows you to use the characters long range attacks like "Kamehameha".The other is the "Melee Range" attack which is all about close combat and fist fights. There is also the Story mode which allows you to play the DBZ story fully. Each end of a huge fight (which can take up to 5 characters to go trough) there is a small (but pretty high quality) scene from the original anime. Its a blast to play it trough if you are a true DBZ fan like me. There is only one "bad" side of this game, the speed which you have to get used too if you want to keep it up with the enemy. You have to act really fast in certain situation, which can become a real issue. But all in all its a great game and its definitelly worth it to buy.

DBZ Ultimate Tenkaichi Review

3

This DBZ game, in my opinion, is one of the worst made for PS3 right behind Burst Limit, possibly because its style diverges quite a lot from the previous episodes. The Tenkaichi 2 and 3 format for PS2 is the most adequate transferred into Raging Blast 1 and 2. This episode sure has a big advantage in terms of graphics with HD and an amazing cell shading but that alone is not enough to make it a must buy. The game-play is way too simplified, often just giving the player the choice between two buttons to press giving it the 50/50 type of thing which is in no way a good one. Your attacks will land depending on whether or not you press the opposite button the opponent pressed. The close range/long range system does not give much freedom to the player to move around in the vast arenas, it definitely does not explore all its capacities to the fullest. The melee combos are automatic, there isn't a real control over it (either press SQUARE or TRIANGLE to do one melee combo or the other). Of course, it changes a bit from the regular game-play, and is suitable for younger players. The character roster is not too big compared to the previous episode (Raging Blast 2), which is a very negative point. Most definitely NOT a must buy, although I am a big fan of DBZ and have purchased all games I do regret buying this one (only bonus being having it added to my collection).

An awesome Dragon Ball Z game with quality graphics. I like the new "Impact Break" feature that makes the game so real.
