XCOM Enemy Unknown is a great game, that exceeded the things I enjoyed so much in the original. Modern graphics add to the atmosphere and the strategic combat feels pitched correctly to keep it enjoyable. I've already spent many hours playing this and would recommend it to others who enjoy this type of game.Report this review
XCOM Enemy Unknown is one epic game! If you like tactical games, aliens or the feeling of watching a movie totally controlled by you, get this game! It has some minor flaws like sometimes your mouse is on the wrong map level (height) and your character goes somewhere you don't want, but this is easily avoided by just taking a second longer to look at what you are doing. All and all a real must have.Report this review
XCOM is an incredible strategy title that, in classic Firaxis fashion, will leave you begging for one last turn as the dawn breaks. It intermixes the macro-management of a city building sim, with the same squad micromanagement you would get from playing classic games like Fallout 1 or 2, Valkyria Chronicles or Jagged Alliance. There are a few niggling issues mostly with glitches and certain bugs that has obscures the camera or leaves player models running in an awkward fashion, but nothing ultimately gamebreaking. I strongly endorse this game as a general fan of strategy games, and there's plenty of strategy to be had while playing. The exhilaration of careful planning and the pay-off of eliminating your enemies with precision and zero casualties is one of the more satisfying feelings you'll get. If you like these kinds of games then you have no excuse. Buy it now.Report this review

The tactical RPG with the highest production values ever. The XCOM Enemy Unknown is highly recommended.Report this review
The review title sums it up. It's not bad. I enjoy playing it, but it doesn't recapture the magic of the original version for me. Good points: - Graphics are good, except for the occasional bug where your weapon fires somewhere other than where you are pointing it. My four-year old laptop struggles a bit. - It's fairly easy to get into. - It's reasonably good fun and can be challenging. Bad points: - Horrendously long install time. - Steam - I don't want to play online multiplayer games so why do I have to install this bloatware which keeps trying to sell me other games? It has no utility to me, and has actually caused the 'offline' game to refuse to load several times until I'm back at an internet connection. Oh, and it keeps running and prevents my system shutdown without further prompts and forced closure. Hate it! - Mission maps come from a limited selection, so they're pretty similar. A bit of random terrain generation / buildings would have improved this. Just feels a bit lazy.Report this review
Heard a lot of good things about this game and was worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype. But I had no need to worry as it is an excellent game. I never played the originals although I had seen them. This is in a similar vain but streamlined for a modern audience. It's a turn based strategy game that engenders more tension than most modern games of any other genre. You do not want your soldiers to die!Report this review
