Drake's Fortune

5

In my view, Uncharted: Golden Abyss is the best game for the PS Vita so far. It shows off all the tricks that the Vita possesses and does so with style. The Uncharted games on the PS3 are movie-like epics, and having one for the smaller screened Vita is a treat. The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay inventive (I love tracing a finger over the hand holds and sitting back to watch Drake climb!) The aiming for shooting is a little erratic but I found that in the PS3 Uncharted games too. The storyline is fun, and the humour Uncharted is known for is not lacking. This is a must buy when getting a Vita, it doesn't disappoint.

Good for a launch game

4

Every new console needs a big launch game, and they don't get much bigger than Uncharted. This Vita incarnation of the PS3 blockbusters does a good job of capturing most of what makes its bigger brothers so special. Graphically it impresses, despite a slight graininess to the image quality and a lack of location variety. Sound is good too - ambient effects are great, there's lots of speech and a rousing score. Gameplay it's pretty much the same routine as usual. Some of the motion control additions work well (such as the ability to finetune aiming by tilting the device, which compensates for the lack of finesse in the analog sticks) but the touch screen stuff feels gimmicky and pointless. The biggest criticism of the game is that it lacks the scale and epic majesty of the PS3 titles. There's a definite sense that this is one of Drake's B adventures. Still, while it's not a classic, it's remains a great demo for what the Vita can do and a near essential companion to any Vita purchase. Let's hope the next one has a bit more meat on its bones.

Do Not Miss!

5

This is an excellent game with blockbuster proportions. Amazing visuals, PS3 quality production with a great storyline and superb voice and motion acting to boot, this game offers an experience like no other handheld device on the market. This game welcomes a wide user base from those who are die hard Uncharted fans, to newcomers of the Uncharted world, or even those who play for the story and cinematic value. To miss out on Uncharted Golden Abyss would truly be a Sin.

If you own a PS Vita or you are getting one Uncharted: Golden Abyss is a must own title ! Its a solid game that keeps you hooked right off the bat...just like a Hollywood Blockbuster. The developers have put an immense amount work in bringing this game to a hand held device and should be commended on their work...it does not disappoint. It plays and feels just like a big Uncharted PS3 adventure with loads to do. The gameplay is great, collecting treasures, exploring, solving puzzles, gun play etc is so much fun its hard to put down...you can also trade your found items with other people via the in game Black Market. The controls feel just right making use of all the Vita's features, touch screens, cameras, motion sensors etc...you can use them anyway you wish. Superb graphics and sound along with a strong story line and great voice acting make this in my opinion the best title for the Vita, it will take some beating. Buy it now..there is a fantastic adventure waiting for you !!

Uncharted: Golden Abyss

4

Uncharted:Golden Abyss is the perfect starter game fully utilising all the Vita's functions, whilst beautifully demonstrating the console's graphical might. For anyone who hasn't played an Uncharted game: the game follows Nathan Drake a treasure hunter, as he travels the world shooting bad guys and solving ancient mysteries. The gameplay is identical to it's PS3 big brother's, amplified if anything by the Vita's intuitive interface. You tilt the console to adjust the aim slightly and the platforming is full of things to swipe, prod and pull with the front and rear touchscreens. Where this game falls short is that it doesn't have the Naughty Dog developer gloss to it. Bend studios, another Sony owned developer, have put more of a focus on finding secret treasures in the environment, and less on the heart stopping set pieces. This slows the game's pace making it more of a wander around ruins, than a sprint to save the world. Overall the game is the perfect introduction to the Vita, allowing you to learn the console's nuances whilst enjoying a top notch adventure.
