Excellent game

Never played the original PS2 version, but I've played other Tales games in the past. I absolutely love Tales of The Abyss, it does start a little slow and the system can be a bit confusing for a start, but things open up gradually so you're not overwhelmed by information. The battles are real time action battles, which are a little more involving and faster-paced than turn based. Random encounters aren't an issue, as enemies appear on the screen as you're moving around, which I like. Most DS RPGs are still invisible random battlers, so this is a nice change for me and gives an old-style JRPG a more modern feel while still staying true to the genre. As with all JRPGs, plot is full of odd twists and turns (predictable to addicts to the genre, I suppose) and typical of everything we love about them. Thoroughly pleased with my purchase.

Excellant Re-make

This game is a remake from the PlayStation 2 2005 in North America and was never released in Europe. A classic game worth getting. Love the battle system though it's similar to Tales of Vesperia and the Tales of Series.

Tales of The Abyss

Really great role playing game from the amazing tales series. The storyline is amazing so far (I've not completed it yet.) I have played other tales series, however, I needed a good one for the 3DS and here it is! The fighting is how I always remembered it with the other tale games, great battle system. The most recent I have completed was Tales of Vesperia for Xbox 360 which made me want this even more! Even though I have never played the PlayStation 2 version of Abyss. I wish I had but I was happy they remade it for 3ds. I am very happy with this order. The Hut delivery was excellent too. This game is a must buy for any 3DS owner and it wont disappoint!

Tales of The Abyss (3DS)

Seven years have passed since 'Tales of the Abyss' was made for the PS2 HomeConsole and now a remake of the first game is released with full-3D Graphics for a completely new experience. Although the Storyline remains the same, the game, offering more than 50 Hours of gameplay, is full of adventure, thrillness and imagination making it able to be enjoyed again and again. As you start playing, you will find you out that disatisfaction is totally out of the question. You begin as Luke Fon Fabre, sole to the heir of Fabre House in Kimlasca Lanvaldear, who was kidnapped by the Malkuth Empire in a young age. When Luke returned home he found himself unable to remember anyone from his family leading to him becoming an imature man without any knowledge of the world outside of the manor. His world, following the Order of Lorelei and the Score in which everyone's life is completely predicted, is peaceful while dangerous monsters are kept away from towns. As the story continues, Luke, with the help of his friends, fights to save the world of terrible destruction... The gameplay consists of Action-Rpg battles (Free Movement around the battle field, Devastating Fonic Artes - Skills for each character with custom button controlls,Enormous Monsters), Expansive World Map with troops of monsters wandering around the fields, Superb Animated Cut-Scenes, Recorded Voice Actings in almost all conversations and more than 50 Hours of adventurous Storyline. Additional to the Main Events, a set of More than 30 Side-quests is made up for a huge experience. In whole, Tales of the Abyss for the 3DS is a great game for all ages, with reconstructed 3D graphics and a well thought scenario. (Therefore a must-buy for any 3DS owner)

Great all round

Fantastic game that has been positively reviewed enough already as a PS game but only recently available for 3DS players. I didn't mind having to pre-order. The Hut.com service was awesome. The game was not available in New Zealand and still isn't! And from only one supplier who was charging a big markup. The Hut.com supplied and delivered in less than a week immediately it was first available overseas. And a good month before it was available here in New Zealand. I paid two-thirds the price I would have had to pay locally. Well done, The Hut.com

Bring on the Tales!!!

Thank you Namco, for realising the immense world and intricate story that comes with all "Tales" series games - and thank you for porting this across to the 3DS. This beautiful (in both story and graphic) Japanese RPG will pull you in straight from the start. If you have ever played a "Tales" game, then you will know what to expect - great battle system, great characters, recurring features - like cooking, titles and skit conversations. I don't want to give too much, as I strongly believe that everyone should try a "Tales" game at least once - and hopefully they will become a more regular addition to the UK market.
