This film is an ultimate favourite. It's funny, romantic, sad but highly entertaining. Cameron Diaz is beautiful and Jude Law, for the girlies, is pleasing on the eyes. It's a great film. I highly recommend you watch it.
This is one of those ,dim the lights, wrap up in a duvet, be at least semi-horizontal and drink cocoa with marshmallows kind of film. There's nothing to work out, not need to overtax the brain and absolutely no point worrying about any bad weather outside, be it howling gale or torrential rain. In fact, a bit of a gale and wind whipping at the windows will only enhance this slice of feel good pie! The story of two women from opposite sides of the pond, both with the wrong man, who then decide to swap homes for two weeks is nothing special. When those two women are the adorable Kate Winslet and the wonderful Cameron Diaz,, it is already more exciting. 'What could be better?' one asks.... I'll tell you... adding Jack Black and Jude Law as the romantic co-stars, that's what! Jack Black plays himself again, which is always thoroughly entertaining to watch and the relationship which grows between him and Kate Winslet is truly touching. Cameron Diaz is a very amusing actress, I didn't realise how funny she is until I saw her on Saturday Night Live when I lived in the USA. Her performance is very convincing as a highly strung movie trailer maker living in LA, When she meets the laid back and handsome Jude Law, it's funny and heart-warming. The acting is fantastic from all the cast members and Kate Winslet always gives a magical performance. She is definitely the one who shines in this for me. The children who play Jude Law's daughters are just great. They are very convincing. All in all, a wonderful film to watch by yourself or with friends. Add it to your list, along with Labyrinth, Love Actually and Briget Jones for the stay at home days when you want pure entertainments, a bit of a giggle but no deep and meaningful challenges.
