REAL Asians on Screen!

5

FINALLY we have some real Asians on screen!! I am sick of the stereotypical Asians that we see time and time again on TV. Thank you Cash and Curry for showing that world that us British Asians DO speak English, DON'T all have arranged marriages, ARE NOT all shop keeps and ARE cool. All Asians tired of the stereotypes should show support and buy this DVD, so that more films like this will be made.

Terrible

1

This film won an award? Sounds a bit sus to me. Seen it, didn't like it. Definitely not worthy of an award. Slightly better than the last offering which was really terrible. That makes this one just terrible I suppose.

Surprisingly good effort

4

There's a limit to what you expect from a Sarjit Bains film given the budgets he has to work with. That said, this film kept me happily entertained and is a big step up from his previous effort Triads, Yardies and Onion Bhajees. The casting for the most part was excellent as were the various locations where this was shot. The grime and overt menace of Harlesden (North West London) contrasted nicely with the countryside and subtle covert racism of the Barnet (yes, Barnet!) countryside. Ameet Chana (Raj) deserves a special mention for an outstanding performance. His hyped-up voice, size, and natural acting ability were well suited to this role. Ditto for Pooja Shah (Ghauri) although she had a much smaller and ultimately limiting part. Look, it's a comedy film with gangsters and guns. You've got to suspend your sense of disbelief but once you've done that however, this film is a surprisingly good effort!

Unique

5

This film is exactly what the UK film industry needs! It's unique and shows all the colours of London. I am glad this film has finally got a DVD release as I have been watching the trailers for ages just hoping for news on a release date. Will be getting this as soon as it hits the shelves!

Funny Funny Funny!!

5

This film was hilarious!! My husband and I saw this at the Tongues of Fire festival in London and thought it was hilarious!! The dialogue was fresh and snappy. The direction was slick and the actors were good. It was an all round highly entertaining 90 minutes or so. Some younger viwers may not recognise him, but the "man from del monte" was in the film as well!! If it's good enough for him, it's good enough for us!!

A Real British Film!

5

I saw this film by chance at the Portobello film festival where it was packed and I saw it standing up in the aisle! [I dont know where the other reviewer said he saw the film, I have been waiting for ages for news of more screenings of ths film]. This film, as well as being funny, represents the real Britain. This isn't some middle class white fairy tale that Working Title produce - it shows Britain how it is - diverse. Thats one of the things I love about living here. I liked how the film was set both in London and the countryside. There was a lot of funny stuff in combining the two - that tractor race was hysterical!! I recommend this film, it's funny but you can see truth in it.

Entertaining Crime Romp!!

4

Cash And Curry is an example of low to mid budget film making at it's best. Well done to Sarjit Bains the best director in the UK today. Its also nice to see his previous film Triads Yardies And Onion Bhajees still in the DVD charts. Tommy Sandhu as Slick Rick is funny as are the other cameos but the film belongs to Ameet Charner as Raj the wannabe gangster at the centre of the action.

Even better than Triads

5

I was lucky enough to see this at the Portobello Film Festival and I was really surprised at just how good it was. It's a black comedy with a super script and very well filmed. If in doubt, go watch the hot trailer, then you will see to make a good judgement for yourself!!

waste of time

1

I saw this at some flea pit cinema with half a dozen other people, three of them walked out after about 30 mins. Unfortunately I stayed, big mistake! Luckily though I didn't pay for the ticket as some one I knew was in the film only thing was and I kid you not they were one of the three who left early. Enough said.
