About time too!

I "ve just watched this film and I must say that it's nice to see something different. It's more of a comedy than a full blown gangster film, very entertaining. I was a bit unsure of the racial language used but I think it's all tongue in cheek..everyone gets verbally abused, even the farm animals! Good Stuff.

Brilliant!!

5

Brilliant movie- My Husband and I thought it was gripping start to finish and well worth the spend. Not the usual churned out movies which drag on leaving you feeling disappointed at the end. Cash & Curry had lots of humour, action, romance and twists and turns. Something for all diverse sections of the community. Will be watching it again this weekend with my friends.

Cash & Curry

I really wish that I was part of this outstanding Brit/Asian effort. At last England has produced some real Asian gangsters. The main villian and his gang really were menacing. A great cast along with some cameos from some of Londons Asian underworld. An outstanding effort and a must see.

nice and simple

5

First off, Cash And Curry is an amazing movie in every sense of the word. There are very few films made where the director obviously did not let one FRAME onto the screen without a reason, and Cash And Curry is one of them. Nothing happens on the screen without it having an effect on the plot. Obviously there was not much of a budget so every shot counts. The plot is relatively simple to follow. We follow a drugs and cash heist and the various characters trying to get the loot back. The amazing thing about this movie is how every scene ties in with the others in some way, every character, big or small, connects with the rest at least once. Too many films force feed their audience the plot. In this case, we just watch occurrences, and have to piece together what ties everything together, the plot weaves together nicely because it is simple.

Already a classic

5

The credits have just begun rolling on what has been my second full viewing of Cash and Curry. For a film made for peanuts it is nothing short of mesmerising. The first time I watched it I was pulled in completely so I had to view it again. The performances are the reason this film really works. Laurence Stevenson as the scary yet funny Yardie gangster Isaac was so convincing that I was surprised the first time I heard him speak in his Jamaican tinged English dialect. Hats off to Ameet Chana too. His performance in this film, as in virtually every film he's been in since Wild West, is a thesis on acting. Ronny Jhutti also excels, he turns in a masterful performance that is complex and nuanced. And Pooja Shah displayed her usual intensity which is not too different to her character Karina in Eastenders. Everyone in this ensemble piece resonated perfectly to create this vivid slice of comedy cake. I hope this movie comes to be recognised as the classic I already believe it is.

Why didnt this get a cinema release?

Just saw a preview DVD. It's difficult to understand why it did not have a general release. I thought some of the shots and particularly the editing were of the highest calibre.

Modern Classic

I had the honor of watching this film at the Mumbai film festival last year. It was amazing. The script was wildly funny and the actors were fantastic. It's a very good film!

It's great movie. Watch it for yourself

Cash and Curry is what it is. It isn't the 'great hope' of British film it is instead a funny, thrilling yarn filled with gangster geezers and comedy characters and laugh-out-loud humour. It's a long, long time since we've seen a British gangster movie that doesn't turn us all mockney-cockney with it's moody dialogue and brooding London landscapes. This is a movie that isn't afraid to look at us with a spark in it's eye and an impish grin on it's face.

Why oh why

1

Why oh why do people churn out rubbish like this to the unsuspecting customers. This film like others I have seen by this ghetto-vision lot is mediocre at best and embarrassingly bad at worse. How they convinced some of the cast to get on board with this is beyond me. I wonder if the likes of Poojah Shah and Ameet Channa have gone into hiding.
