This is my all time favourite film. I absolutely adore this film. Yes it was expensive and yes, it took a long time to make but isn't it worth it? The graphics are the best, bar none. They are mind blowing. You cant even tell a lot of the time that the beautifully constructed forests, rivers and clearings are not real. This has something for everyone, it has the action, the comedy, the romance and even a little horror. It will have you gripped to your seat the entire time. The acting is extremely well done, Jake being an unlikely hero in a world that doesnt want him. They want his brother. Or they want him gone, full stop. But as the story develops, so do the characters and the relationships between them. I am 23 and I loved it. My grandad hates CGI films.. he loved it. My parter loves it. You will be hard pushed to find someone who honestly doesnt like this film. Its a masterpiece. Buy it, you will not be disappointed!
If Sci Fi is your thing, then this is for you. I first saw this in 3D and was blown away. A film that has everything. A story of man's destruction to the environment for financial gain. Enter a hero to save the day, with one disability. He can't walk. Don't waste time listening to me, watch this again, and again. Bigger the screen the better. This Rocks (Enjoy).
When I first saw the advert for avatar, I thought it was going to be rubbish but when I gave it a chance to watch it on dvd, it was amazing, there is fast action and romance from a human who is controlling an avatar (the blue things), it'.s a kind of film you could watch over and over again and you woudn't get bored of it. This film was directed by the people who made titanic and terminator 1 and 2, thats why there is gripping action and sobbing romance.
Avatar is a good story, the nature against man greediness, the nature against man destructions, and for change the end is good, not the greenest of the money but that of the nature triumphed ,a world dangerous but in harmony, where every one is part of it,where there is hope even after death. Avatar got it all,I did see it on 3D,at the cinema,I did enjoy the same on DVD without 3D,the effects are great but the story is even better, every one of us dreamed at last once to fly,in avatar is possible with the beautiful dragon like creatures, (called Banshee),It is a prehistoric land and in the same time more evolute word, where magic, hope, religion, sense of justice still exist. When the trees are destroyed ,your mind goes to the rain forest where it is happening,Avatar is every day story.the only pity is not seen more of the creatures like the Thanator a dragon/dinosaur/lizard beast.overall this is a real Blockbuster.
This a film for a saturday night in with few friends got the groundbreaking effects to impress everyone, but the story is strong enough to give interest to those who like more plot. The only people who will struggle are those who detest videogames as the animation is very game inspired.
I really enjoyed this film. If you fancy something a little different, with great effects and a great story this is a great film to get. It is one of those films you will always remember, and i would thoroughly recommend it.
Only through the advancements of technology can we finally immerse ourselves in the kaleidoscopic aesthetics that Avatar had to offer. The floating islands (Hallelujah Mountains), the flying creatures race ("Ikran"), the attack on the "Tree of Souls" to name a few scenes. Yes, the 3D technology was impressive, but only to serve as an immersive tool. It was not the "point and throw things at the camera" gimmick of the '80s. Don't be fooled that it doesn't equally impress in 2D. The Blu Ray is still jaw-droppingly beautiful. The film truly is nothing short of breathtaking..............visually. .......And therein lies the rub. The problem for me is that whilst the tech has advanced in leaps and bounds, our ability to generate original stories is far from evolved; unless your name is Christopher Nolan, of course. The story, for me, was unbelievably dull and predictable. If you have seen The Last Samurai or Dances with Wolves or even Pochahontas, then you know the story and every plot and character development that follows. Giving it an impressively gorgeous coat of paint and throwing a bazillion dollars at it may distract you for the first viewing for most people, but when you look beneath the veneer, you may feel as ripped off as me. I thought we were being sold the most original film EVER MADE, but really it was the prettiest and most expensive update of a story that has been told a muiltitude of times. Visuals = Phenomenal Story = Unoriginal - Generic Overall = Average
Overlong, over-hyped and about as subtle as a brick saying "wake up people!", Avatar has a very plodding first hour and then perks up a bit until losing all credibility by having Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) explain the point of the film, as if anyone with half a brain cell hadn't worked it out by then. The performances were mostly good, it's always a joy to see Sigourney Weaver on screen and the visuals were good, but ultimately the film left me feeling empty.
I so wanted to be negative about this film, after all the hype,n but I thought it was great, the special effects aside, I enjoyed the story and liked how the main character developed. It was a film that all the family can enjoy.
this film is fantastic and well worth a watch, the graphics are amazing, although it has a typical american love storyline!
This film totally blew me away at the cinema. I cried, I laughed, I loved it. But if you really want to experience it fully and see what all the fuss is about with 3D wait and buy the 3D version.
This film was so well made, i loved the fact that you could watch it and get lost in another world, you forget about the Na'vi being fictional characters, and Pandora being a made up land. The way all the characters human and Na'vi interact is seemless. Brilliant film!
Elegant, lyrical, mystical, stunning. Need I say more?!
When asked by my friend if I wanted to watch this film, I replied "no it looks stupid". I would soon eat my words as I was taken by surprise by the trailer that was shown before the film I came to watch at the cinema. I was so impressed by the Avatar trailer that when I got home, I went straight onto my computer to watch it again. My mother watched it herself and concluded that we should watch it at the cinemas. Avatar is one the best films I have ever seen. It takes you to another world for 2hrs 42 minutes. You'll forget your watching a film as you'll be so absorbed by its ground-breaking graphics and its inspiring and profound story. Avatar was so good that I watched it twice and now want to buy it on DVD!
I am 13 years old and went to see this flick two weeks after the release, and I can tell you I was absolutely hooked to it from start to finish, James Cameron works his magic again, the visual effects were amazing and very detailed. Simply the best movie ever.
With all the usual hype that goes along with big films - especially films that are directed with such successful directors, I anticipated that movie could well fall flat on its face. So I watched the film with a large pinch of salt so as to try and avoid myself being completely disappointed with it. Well I neednt have worried, right from the beginning I was hooked, as were my wife and four children which is some feat considering their ages range from 6 to 15. I only hoped that it could maintain the flow and end as well as it began .and it did Brilliant!!! It immediately became my favourite film of all time (its been Shawshank Redemption for about 15 years). Its also been the first movie that I have had to go out and purchase on the release day!
I am 10 years old and I thought Avatar was an excellent movie. I went to see it with my 8 year old brother and my 45 year old dad and they both loved it.
