Since 1784, John Smedley has created the world's finest knitwear out of the oldest manufacturing factory in the world based at the heart of Britain in Lea Mills, Derbyshire.
John Smedley proudly designs and manufactures every individual piece from its collections from its Derbyshire homestead, and during its 200-year the history the brand has become renowned as a global leader in fine gauge knitwear. Indeed the brand's reputation is such that John Smedley received a Royal Warrant in 2013 for providing the ‘place and quality of manufacturer of fine knitwear.’ The brand has been popular with the Royal family for many years – with HRH Queen Elizabeth II visiting the factory twice.
Yet despite its remarkably rich heritage, John Smedley continues to innovative today and is a key fixture at both London Fashion Week and London Fashion Week Men's. The brand today collaborates with some of the fashion industry's most exciting names, including collaborations over the past few seasons with the likes of Lou Dalton, Comme des Garçons and Pretty Green.
