  • Product Overview

Supergraphics can be found everywhere in the modern urban environment, from galleries to car parks, from offices to shops. These large-scale graphics are used in architectural delineation, wayfinding and identifying signage, illustrative murals and corporate branding. The Field Guide to Supergraphics introduces over sixty of the best examples from around the world. It explains what makes these projects so successful, breaking down their function and their distinctive visual language. Divided into four sections – typographic, graphic, colour and vernacular – and featuring interviews with several leading practitioners, this is a visually stunning and highly informative guide to the rapidly developing supergraphic world.

    Features:

    • Contains examples of graphics on the inside and outside of civic, commercial, residential and corporate buildings.
    • A follow-up to Thames & Hudson’s successful The Field Guide to Typography (978 0 500 241448), hailed as ‘excellent … fascinating’ by Creative Review.
    • An introductory section explains what supergraphics are, explores their history and provides a glossary of relevant terminology.
    • Includes interviews with five leading contemporary designers of supergraphics: Adam Brodsley and Eric Heiman, Ian Lynam, Alex Fowkes, Joachim Sauter and Nuno Gusmão.
    • Over 350 stunning colour photographs, many not previously published.
