What can I say about The Walking Dead? In one word; wow! I'm a lover of all things to do with zombies, and The Walking Dead has blown my mind. It is a great introduction to the genre for newbies and old gore-hounds alike, with fast-paced action, a great plot line and fantastic effects. It really draws you in, allowing you to connect with the living characters, and at points, you even find yourself feeling sorry for the zombies! It's a great series overall - full of madness and action. I highly recommend it.
Honestly, for all the reviews and posts that I’ve read before purchase it I thought it would be better. Please, do not understand it as I didn’t like, I really did, but I cannot give 5 stars. The first 3 episodes, including the pilot, had completely no effect on me. I could not care less with the characters, if they were eaten alive by the zombies or if they were living happily forever and I can say that I can appreciate a good zombie movie. Such feeling in a TV show for me is not a very good start. Then I watched the remain 3 episodes of the season and the things started to grow on me in a completely different way. Personally the last two ones are really a masterpiece. I recommend only for zombies/horror fans, I will not recommend for the standard TV show audience because it’s not a standard TV show, it’s dark, grittier, gory, bloody, violent, punch-in-the-face pure zombie entertainment. The Hut service continues very well in the right pace, please keep on with the excellent job.
One word to sum The Walking Dead Season 1 would be, wow. I've always been a fan of the whole zombie genre but this is the best thing I've watched for a very long time. Spread over 6 parts it has the feel and excitement of a film but the longevity of a series. The charaters are in depth and engaging and the zombies rock. The walking dead is both a heart felt journey and a full on horror, while not for the easily grossed out, it would be a great introduction for newbie's to the genre and hardcore horror fans alike.
I was pleasantly surprised when watching the first series which was very well written directed and shot, some great make up and zombies looked pretty cool, if you liked 28 days later, Dawn of the dead and possibly Zombieland and series such as Lost and Prison break your in for a treat, just hope they don't wind it on too long like they did with other American series! Cant wait for series 2!
Needed something to get into as most series i'm currently watching are on a break & i came across this, hadn't heard of it before, so i picked this up. I've gotta say that i am very impressed with this as a series, feels like a movie at times as the storyline leaves you wanting more & you'll want to see the next episode straight after, like i did lol. Great characters, excellent story, very intense & realistic!! Watch it or miss out, definitely a must for horror/gore fans.
Among a certain sect of people (say those who write for or read IGN), there was no TV series with more anticipation around it than The Walking Dead this fall. The comic books, telling a very straight-forward and stirring story of people living in an America overrun by zombies, provide some incredibly compelling source material. On top of that, just the idea of a network like AMC (home of truly awesome series like Mad Men and Breaking Bad) and people like Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd tackling the project were enough to get a fanboys' pulse racing. So did the show itself deliver? I'd say yes, though there certainly is room for improvement going forward. Season 1 was of course a very short one, comprised of just six episodes. During that time, The Walking Dead quickly proved it was a show with genuine dramatic weight and tension, starting with the pilot episode, "Days Gone Bye." Some of my favorite scenes of the season are contained here, especially the somber juxtaposition between lead character Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln, bringing the appropriate strong everyman quality to the role) returning to put a zombie he encountered earlier out of her misery with Morgan (Lennie James) trying and failing to do the same thing for his wife – knowing it's not truly her anymore, but unable to go through with the act of shooting her. All involved in The Walking Dead, from Darabont to comic book creator Robert Kirkman (who is also an executive producer), made it clear going in that the TV series would sometimes deviate from the comic. That aforementioned sequence with Morgan and his wife, which is not in the comic, quickly proved how this was not a bad thing in and of itself, presenting something new to comic book fans that felt utterly in touch with the story.
Before buying this I thought it would be your run of the mill, average zombie show, but after watching the first episode was completely drawn to in to it. After watching all the episodes it left me wanting more and is definetley nothing like your average zombie flick and really lets you no the characters and lets you grow with them as the story progresses. I give it a thumbs up and a 5 star.
