Winner of seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture of 1962, Lawrence of Arabia stands as one of the most timeless and essential motion picture masterpieces. The greatest achievement of its legendary, Oscar-winning director David Lean (1962, Lawrence of Arabia; 1957, The Bridge on the River Kwai), the film stars Peter O'Toole - in his career-making performance - as T.E. Lawrence, the audacious World War I British army officer who heroically united rival Arab desert tribes and led them to war against the mighty Turkish Empire. The massive scope and epic action of the Director's Cut of Lawrence of Arabia can now be experienced like never before in this landmark 50th Anniversary Edition.
Never-before-seen bonus content on this two-disc release includes the "Secrets of Arabia: A Picture-in-Graphics Track", which allows the viewer to become immersed in the world of Lawrence of Arabia and learn about the customs and rituals of desert existence. Also included is newsreel footage of the New York premiere and advertising campaigns.

In my opinion one of the greatest films ever made. Great in scope and wonderful in story. The acting is sublime and it may hold one of the greatest performances ever. I dare to say it has the best written screenplay ever. Just all the aspects of the film are extraordinary. And every time you watch it you discover new details and new story elements that eluded you before. I have seen many films, but none are as specials as Lawrence of Arabia.
I am old enough to have watched this film when it was first released and have owned a DVD copy for many years. This Blu ray shows this film in all its glory, well worth getting it. I found it a bit confusing at first as Disc 1 shows the Special Features and Disc 2 shows the film. There is a marked improvement in the scenes filmed in the desert and the details seem more vivid than in the the DVD version. No doubt the restoration team has been painstakingly thorough, a well deserved addition to the library. The additional copy can be downloaded into a PC or laptop. It's a long film (over 3 1/2 hours) but it is not tiring. There is a long prelude with the soundtrack playing LoA's haunting theme but no images conducted by Sir Adrian Bolt that wets your appetite for what is to come.
This is one of the greatest films ever made. Wonderful directing, cinematography, acting, editing, I could go on and on. I would recommend this film to anyone wanting to see a beautifully crafted film. I have been waiting for this film on Blu-Ray for a long time and it does not disappoint in any way.
