Known as the first fashion house of prêt-a-porter, Chloe collaborated with many designers known for couture creations like Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo and Hannah MacGibbon to produce effortlessly chic apparel.

As Creative director in 1992, Karl Lagerfeld put Chloe on the map with his collections. Offering ‘high fashion and high camp’ designs that were flattering but bold, including a piece called the ‘surprise’ skirt, which was ankle length, pleated silk, so loose that it hid the fact it was actually trousers. Lagerfeld attracted a glamorous audience including the likes of Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy.

Assisting and then succeeding the talented Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo tamed McCartney’s designs, making them more ‘street sensible’ which fit the bill for Chloe. As Creative director for Chloe, Philo brought out some of the world’s most desirable ‘it’ items, from high-waisted jeans to baby doll dresses, including the Paddington bag, which is now the most popular bag of all time.

Worn by the likes of Brigitte Bardot back in the Sixties and today Diane Kruger, Kate Moss and Jessica Alba to name a few, Chloe is now a household name. With global success and a trail of celebrity followers, the Chloe brand of today represents fine quality affordable clothing.
