Wonderfull
I've been waiting more than 5 years for SSX, and it's great! 9 mountains, great graphics, and brilliant over the top style! It's the best game in its league, and if you're looking for full, extreme fun then SSX has got it all! The soundtrack is amazing; the game will remix the song on what you're doing on the run! Beating friends scores will be addictive! I love this game!

fun & refreshing
Fun & Refreshing that's what comes into my mind when I play this game. For this price (I mean UK prices) you don't have too hesitate too much longer if you want to play a fun snowboard game. Most of the tracks are pleasant, but you can switch to your own playlist which is really nice feature.

it's ok....but...it's no fun
Okay, so perhaps I should have read more about it before getting all excited and buying it straight off - but I was expecting SSX3+ and actually got a pretty boring and difficult snowboarding "job". Without the possibility of "two people in the same room multiplayer" (splitscreen), a less than pallatable soundtrack, and a sign-on process that's extremely tedious, I think this game is going to be relegated pretty quickly to the "exchange" pile. I don't understand, I LOVED SSX3 on the PS2 and was really hoping that this would provide a replacement for the XBOX, but I've been really disappointed. As I say in the title - it's probably technically a very good game, but it's no fun....:-(

Realistic, but still SSX
Despite using realistic places rather than the cities and other crazy locations of the previous game, it's not long (or hard) to start pulling off some utterly daft tricks. There are 3 types of descent, race and trick are obvious, the last 'deadly descent' however pits you against an environmental hazard (trees, darkness, freezing temperatures etc) on the highest peak in the range, and you just have to get down in one piece! There's also 3 types of mode, single player 'story', simple introduction, a few races/tricks on each range then a descent, and a different boarder for each range. Handily it does allow you to skip some races if you've tried and failed a few times, saves frustration. Explore mode is simply do what you want, where you want, with whichever boarder you want. Finally the online mode, doesn't do simultaneous races (though you can see other riders), its more a of a ranked leaderboard for credits. Some you have to pay to race, others have restrictions (the deadly descents without the survival gear are my fave). The AutoLog from NFS makes it easy to challenge friends and builds up a competitive drive, each time you see that your ranking as dropped a level. Negatives for me are the silly 5 item shop system, if you don't want one of the 5 you have to buy one so it's replaced... you can end up buying 4/5 items just to get the one you're after... wastes credits for no really reason. The shop UI is also cumbersome and slow too. It was also very dark in some places, and trying to win a race when you're in a pitch black tunnel is frustrating rather than 'fun'. Overall this is an excellent game that's still most definitely SSX.
