The sequel to Rebellion’s highly-acclaimed 2005 game Sniper Elite, Sniper Elite V2 continues to offer gamers the most authentic World War II sniping experience by putting them in the middle of war-torn Berlin amidst the frenzied final battle between German and Russian forces.
With an emphasis on learning to handle the anticipation and pressure of the hunt, players are forced to use skill, patience and cunning to achieve their missions as they find themselves facing life-altering choices. The celebrated "bullet cam" from Sniper Elite makes its return and will be more gratifying than ever. Skillful shots are rewarded with a slow-motion sequence of the bullet running its full trajectory from barrel to target as well as featuring graphic detail of the effects of the bullet entering and destroying a target.

Sniper Elite V2 is one of this love it or hate it kind of game. Gamers who seek after a stealth experience a la Splinter Cell or Metal Gear will be a little disappointed after finding that certain moments in the game leave you no choice but to be spotted by the enemies - that's right you can't finish this game without being detected. The game switches between stealthy approaches and more action focused sections giving the game a really good pace. The main feature of the game is the new x-ray-bullet-killcam that not only shows your best kills via a slow motion view around your flying bullet. But also shows what it does to your victim's skull, bones, organs etc. The game encourages you to take time for your kills via the scoring system and online leaderboards. The game truly shines in high difficulty mode where you must take in to consideration the gravity, wind, and your heartbeat to land a precise shot. Enemy soldiers are very aware of your presence if you make little noises like footsteps, and are very accurate even at long distances. You have to view your surroundings first before killing the first guy you see because chances are an enemy sniper is waiting for you to be exposed on a roof nearby. Graphically the game offers great lighting effect and textures (e.g. the ground or walls are very detailed). Since you will spend most of your time prone it's always nice to see little details like shattered tiled floor and bricks. The faces of soldiers are very detailed too. The length of the game is the only major complain here, 8 hours campaign and co-op play online but no deathmatch against other online players at the moment, which is very sad considering that the PC version has it. Maybe in the future they will release it in a Free DLC. If so, you can add 1 extra star to the rating.
I've only played the demo of Sniper Elite V2 so far but this is the ultimate sniper game, a few others have tried and failed but Sniper Elite has done a great job. You can go for the easy difficulty with no distance bullet drop and no wind effects and it goes up to hard mode with the most realistic sniping effects I have ever seen in a game. The World War II setting feel gritty and harsh, but taking out high up Nazi officials feels satisfying. I recommend this game to anyone who either enjoys shooters or WWII games.
