Saints Row: The Third Xbox 360

Saints Row: The Third

    Product Review

    Release Date: 18 November 2011

Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobblehead dolls all available at a store near you. The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute.
Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to Steelport, a once-proud metropolis reduced to a struggling city of sin under Syndicate control. Take a tank skydiving, call in a satellite-targeted airstrike on a Mexican wrestling gang, and defend yourself against a highly-trained military force using only a sex toy in the most outlandish gameplay scenarios ever seen, igniting a city-wide war that will set Steelport on fire.

Saints Row®: The Third™ gives you control of the Saints at the height of their power, and you live the life to show for it. Now Steelport is ripe for the taking, and it’s up to you to make the city your own. Mold the skyline based on your choices, outfit your crew in classy gangster gear or furry costumes, and make life-or-death decisions that will change Steelport, and the Saints, forever. This is now your city. These are now your rules. Strap it on.

    Features:

    • Over The Top – Like a lapdance from a porn star, the action is naughty, fun, and better than anything you’re getting at home.
    • City of Sin - Disrupt and dismantle the Syndicate stranglehold on weapons, cybercrime, and sex trades. Discover the secrets of Steelport, where there is action on every street corner, for better or, more likely, worse.
    • Weapons of Crass Destruction – It’s one thing to defeat your enemies. It’s another to humiliate them. Hover jets, human cannonball cars and sex-toy warfare are all part of the fun.
    • Co-op Madness – Give naked skydiving a try, landing in your partner’s flaming pickup as you make a suicide run toward a heavily armed Syndicate brothel. Steelport is more fun with a friend.
    • Initiation Station – Create, share, and download the most outlandish characters every seen, from washed-up celebrities to naked ninja pirates. Inside every sinner, there is a Saint.

    Still improving!

It's a pretty close call to me but I'd say this is the best Saints Row so far. It throws you straight into the action in what feels like a bit of a hectic itnro, but once the game starts up I found the character customization system has been revamped yet again, with plenty more options and generally better looking presets and more possibilites for styles of character you can dream up. Weapons have gone from being a range of similar weapons to each type into a smaller selection of upgradeable weapons that behave rather more differently once fully upgraded. This was a fair shake up, for example, the one pistol shoots exploding rounds once fully upgraded, another pierces the armor that swat wear. Clothing and car customization is better than Saints Row 2. In particular I felt that car customization was somewhat watered down from 1, with many options from familiar vehicles removed. I've yet to find a car in 3 from the previous 2 games that did not have as many or more options to customize. The story and missions are even crazier than ever, so if over the top is your bag, then you can't go wrong. It's hard not to roll your eyes at one or two more over the top sequences, but once things get going you start to love them, and the humor is pretty well written at times. One thing I do think has gone a tiny bit downhill are the diversions, in particular hit lists and chop shop lists have been made more of a chore, as each one is a drive to a specific area and is often followed by a cop chase to get the vehicle back. The reward for these seem too slim to be worth the effort. This problem didn't carry to the side-activities, which are as fun as before and carry some new ones thrown in, such as the Genki Arena, which is a great addition. If you liked the previous Saints Row games this is for you. If you want a game that dosen't take itself seriously, lets you wander around and have fun and tries to be as ridiculous as it can, this is for you. If you want a serious, gritty game or are expecting a shooter with a cover system, this isn't what your looking for. It feels like another step forward for the series, diversions aside, I'm a good 75% complete or so and still enjoying.

    A Truly Amazing Game

This game is an excellent follow up from the previous. It incorporates all of the same features that were in the previous title in the series. This includes the vast open world that you have to explore, which is full of thing for you to discover. It also includes a brilliant story line following the saints after they have reached the top, and now have to deal with other gang that want to take their place. It also includes a large variety of side missions that can keep you entertained for many hours. Throughout the city of Steelport, their are many different vehicles that you can drive, including some strange ones, such as a flying motorcycle, and a truck with a giant head on it. This game also has a large amount of different weapons for you to use, and include some novelty weapons such as the penetrator. This game also allows drop-in/out co-op mode, which is what I recommend play this game with. This game is amazing by yourself, but becomes even better when your playing with a friend. It makes the missions so much more fun, and makes exploring the city more fun, as you can have contested and even dogfight in helicopters. There is a final mode called 'whored mode', which is a take on a normal waved based mode. You have waves of enemies running at you, and each wave you get given certain weapons to complete the wave. Overall I would highly recommend this game to anyone who is into open world games, and that likes the fact that you can have hours of fun in this game.
