Resident Evil 6 is the heavily anticipated addition to the legendary survival horror series, bringing back your favourite characters and the best in spine tingling suspense and action. This game revels in a global horror experience combined with chilling, adrenaline fuelled gameplay, combat, and atmosphere. Not to mention, as always, a rich and heavily textured storyline that truly draws you into the game. Welcome to Resident Evil 6.
The game is set ten years after the Raccoon City incident, and there are both new and familiar faces returning to the fray. You will have the ability to play as more than one protagonist, and each of these playable characters come with their own unique storyline, companion, motivation, and perspective on the events occurring.
One such hero is Leon S. Kennedy. You will find yourself in Washington, D.C. with the President of the United States, who is planning on revealing the truth behind the events of Raccoon City in the hopes of preventing future bioterrorist activity. However, a bioterrorist attack is launched at your location, mutating the President and setting in motion another battle for Leon's survival. Meanwhile, another hero has just touched down in China, which is also under threat of another bioterrorist attack. This hero is Chris Redfield, a Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member trying to regain control of the outbreaks wherever he can. These storylines will eventually overlap, leading to a greater plot and conclusion.
The gameplay within Resident Evil 6 is action oriented, although returns to favouring the survival horror aspect that made the series so legendary to begin with. The signature over the shoulder style camera has been incorporated once more, which gives more dynamic views of the revamped close quarters combat moves, as well as the ability to wield dual pistols. These combat improvements and introductions add to the adrenaline fuelled experience that is fighting for your life against hordes of zombies, and to the exhilerating experience that is playing Resident Evil 6. Resident Evil 6 sucks. It probably would be a nice action game but not under the "Resident Evil" name. Where are the zombies? Where is the Survival horror? If I was tired of this with the 5th, the 6th is even worst. The only thing that I could love is the lore, which mixes 3 points of views but this game... is not Resident Evil anymore.
Pros - good Graphics - very fun to play with a friend - Mercenary Mode is as addictive and challenging as always - The new 'Agent Hunt' mode where you play as several different types of enemies online against other players is frustrating at first but rewarding and addictive once you get the hang of it - very long Campaign(s)!!! around 30 hours to complete all! - Some interesting new enemies that are guaranteed to get your heart racing - New combat system and controls are fairly fluid - Great voice acting and facial animation in cut scenes Cons - No longer a Horror title, its really more Action - Some horrible uninspired chapters throughout the campaign - The weapon upgrade system has been removed, for some very silly reason - if your friend does DC while playing, you need to restart the game at the last save point, there is no chance to get him back in game
Grew up with the Resident Evil titles and so much has changed over the years! OK, so let me get this straight. There has been a drift away from the originals and this all started with part 4. So far Leon has brought so much for me into the series that I couldn't resist "getting my hands back on him" ... The Stories are all (several as you know) kind of cheesy - but that didn't distract us so far - didn't it? The graphics are well done and sometimes even stunning! Actionw wise - yes that's actually something you have to know if you like it. If you could enjoy the fifth installment then prepare for this feeling. It is action driven and delivers what you could expect. If you could already arrange yourself with the loss of some survival horror, but don't mind the high action pased feeling - then look forward to this one. If you are not into that overkill feeling, than take a peek in some game play clips. Resident Evil for me is still a lot of fun and you will get plenty out of this one if you can accept the "new" style.
