Great... but way too short!
I finished Homefront last night and it was a big let down. Let me explain why. First off, I am a huge fan of this game, the story is gripping and you really feel like what you are doing is for a good cause. Anyone who has played the game will attest that you are near in tears at the start of the game. Now, I'm a guy and not prone to grand shows of emotion, but I was welling up with some of the things that they showed. The gameplay mechanics aren't quite as polished as Call of Duty or Halo, but it holds it's own. The graphics are good and the audio is excellent. The let down is in the length of the single player campaign. I'm not a hard-core player who rushes through a mission, I like to take my time and really get immersed in the plot. But I must've finished it in around 6 hours of casual gaming over several nights. I know there is a greater emphasis on multiplayer nowadays, but with such strong material, I was shocked that they hadn't made the campaign the focus. I was expecting more missions, but it just finished and I was left sitting for a few minutes wondering if I had missed something. I then took the disc out, put it back in it's case and moved on to something else. But all-in-all I was very happy with my purchase and thoroughly enjoyed my (short) time playing the game. It really does look like it's setting up for a sequel, and I'll be watching for it. My advice; buy it.
