Fallout 3: Game Of The Year Edition

    Product Review

    Release Date: 16 October 2009

Vault 101 - Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth.

    Features:

    • Includes Fallout 3 and five expansion packs: Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta.
    • Limitless Freedom: Take in the sights and sounds of the vast Capital Wasteland! See the great monuments of the United States lying in post-apocalyptic ruin! You make the choices that define you and change the world. Just keep an eye on your Rad Meter!
    • Experience SPECIAL: Vault-Tec engineers bring you the latest in human ability simulation - the SPECIAL Character System! Utilising new breakthroughs in points-based ability representation, SPECIAL affords unlimited customisation of your character. Also included are dozens of unique skills and perks to choose from, each with a dazzling variety of effects!
    • The Power of Choice: Feeling like a dastardly villain today, or a good samaritan? Pick a side or walk the line, as every situation can be dealt with in many different ways. Talk out your problems in a civilised fashion, or just flash your Plasma Rifle.
    • Blast 'Em Away With V.A.T.S.: Even the odds in combat with the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System for your Pip-Boy Model 3000! V.A.T.S. allows you to pause time in combat, target specific body parts on your target, queue up attacks, and let Vault-Tec take out your aggression for you. Rain death and destruction in an all-new cinematic presentation.
    • Mind-Blowing Artificial Intelligence: At Vault-Tec, we realise that the key to reviving civilisation after a global nuclear war is people. Our best minds pooled their efforts to produce an advanced version of Radiant A.I., America's First Choice in Human Interaction Simulation. Facial expressions, gestures, unique dialog, and lifelike behavior are brought together with stunning results by the latest in Vault-Tec technology.

    lots of hours to play

Fallout 3 is, as expected from any Bethesda RPG, a huge open game with lots of different locations to explore. You decide whether you play the hero or get everyone killed eventually. If you really take the time to play the game thoroughly, meaning you look under every rock, you will easily be around the Capital Wasteland for about 80 hours - with the five DLCs yet to come. I highly recommend this game to all fallout fans.

    Fantastic Value

Absolutely brilliant value for money at this price. Not only do you get the game, but also all 5 DLC packs on a separate disc. I couldn't tell you how long I've spent on this overall, it must be at least 100+ hours playing through as different character types. Despite how long I've spent on the game I still discover new places or details each time I play. Don't listen to people who claim the game is full of bugs, that may have been true when it was first released, but nearly all of these have been fixed now, so you're left with a spectacularly enjoyable post-apocalyptic adventure. If you enjoy it, don't forget to pick up "Fallout: New Vegas" as well.

    Awesome!

Been looking for this Game of the Year edition for ages. If you like a game like Mass effect 2, you will like this one even more. This is the only game I know that you can play for months. And the cool thing about this game is that it has some rpg elements in it besides all the shooting. Only thing what leaves me to say is to buy it especially this Game of the Year edition as it is worth his money, trust me :D.

    Flawed Classic!

This game has had me waiting for a very long time! Ever since playing Fallout 2 on the PC I have been anticipating this release and I have to say I was impressed and disappointed in equal measure! I really didn't expect a 'poor man's Oblivion clone'. Sure its atmospheric, beautifully set, music and radio stations are fantastically done, add-ons are well handled and flow seamlessly into the game, depth, playability, longevity! All aces! But somehow I feel slightly cheated, as if they had taken Oblivion, set it in the future, added a few robots and called it Fallout 3. One of the major selling points of the Fallout series was its ingenuity, originality and longevity! Still a classic though, although not as much as it could have been! Bring on Fallout: New Vegas!
