This game is complete and absolutely awful. Controls are weird, the start of the game, which is supposed to get you inside the history, is boring. I have played just one hour and left it on the shelf to be forgotten forever. To be avoided by all means.
Brilliant RPG adventure!
This is one of the hardest games I have ever played. At times it is frustrating but at the same time I can't put it down. In my honest opinion buy this game if you like the challenge, but not if you have a short temper :)
Initially, I was hesitant to purchase Dark Souls as many before me have focused heavily on it being difficult and not beginner-friendly at all. Regardless, I still bought it and despite it being difficult, I am loving every minute of the experience. Combat is tense and difficult, as has been stated, but it is never unfair. With this in mind, every slight bit of progress you make is exhilarating. It has to be said though that this game, especially with regard to combat and itemisation, is not for new players, as it is relentless in its task to kill you whenever it sees fit. The graphics, especially the cinematography, is breathtaking at times, and it certainly enhances the overall play experience. The character models can be a bit dodgy, but this does not detract from the game experience, as I still felt wholly immersed during every play-session. The story is nothing to write home about, but if you can disregard that, and simply take in the atmosphere, Dark Souls is an amazing experience which is both cruel and very rewarding. In short, Dark Souls is all about the intense gameplay, and the very deep itemisation and levelling system. If you are a fan of dungeon crawlers and number-crunching games which are not afraid to test your skill, I can highly recommend this game to you.
Hard as hell and fun to match. This game has a high learning curve but is satisfying to match. The environments are well made, the art is impeccable. The game world is expansive and varied. As for content, the storyline can in some places be somewhat confusing, but it is more of a vessel for the game-play anyway. If you were to follow the plot carefully however, despite itself its actually very good with a lot of background information if you're the sort of person that has to know absolutely everything. The multi-player elements are very good. The co-operative play works well, and is genuinely fun. Teaming up with buddies to take on bosses, other players, or to just explore is very satisfying. If you're a more sadistic player the ability to "invade" other peoples worlds is also very fun. As a side note, the multi-player community (at least on the Xbox version which I am playing) is very active. From the very first multi-player enabled zone right up to the higher levels, at no time of day have I had trouble finding friends and opponents in all sections of the game.
Okay, Dark Souls is challenging. Challenging but always rewarding. You die a lot but you learn the same. Ambiance is unique and gameplay is lot deeper than it looks. Bosses are awesome and multiplayer is pioneering and refreshing. It reminds me Severance: Blade of Darkness, no more to say, just a dream come true. I would describe it as a survival RPG. Bought it to try, but hundreds of hours later, other games look so bland.
Bought Dark Souls when it originally came out and it was worth every penny, I didn't even manage to finish it and it's still worth it. Amazing value for this price, it's an absolute steal.
Dark Souls is very hard! Every action is non removeable! You DIE and DIE and DIE all the time... at the beginning! But later, when you know how to, you RULE! No map! No help! You have to find the RIGHT way to solve the quests! You have to find the sellers of spells and items! NO MERCY! BUT THE BEST GAME I PLAYED SINCE "Call of Chuthulu" and "Zelda - Ocarina of Time"!
Dark Souls is a fantastic challenge. It's not an easy game and it is proudly advertised as a game in which you will die. Which is correct; the game will try to kill you over and over again. But man, what satisfaction when you advance through this open fantasy RPG world. Highly recommended game, the graphics on XBOX360 are great and the gameplay is excellent. 5/5
Dark Souls is amazing! By far the best dungeon crawler I have enjoyed, and I have played a lot. The game is challenging but rewarding. It is a game in which the tactics and the strategy in building up the character and the weapons and armour is very important. The environment is dark, immersing, and very captivating. I have played over 120 hours to the game, and still not tired of playing. I am on its third play trough. And I do no usually play the games once passed. Concluding, a great game for the hardcore and the ones that want a challenging but rewarding experience. If you are finding for a great plot or a easy game, then stay away of this game.
To put it straight, Dark Souls is a hard game that will reward you the more and more you play it. For instance, I was slayed by the games second boss numerous times, until I re-evaluated the situtation and found a unique way to defeat it. This is how the game has been for me - use the enviroment to your advantage and master blocking and rolling and everything comes together quite wonderfully. The game does not hold your hand - I will honestly say straight away if you don't like it when you are left to discover gameplay elements by yourself, then don't buy this - while there is a tutorial area, it is brief and only skims over the basics. Experiment and learn the controls to win. I highly recommend this to people that are willing to learn to play in a whole new way - the game isn't a clone of anything else - don't expect God of War esque combat, as you will get nowhere by button mashing, but merely take this on its own credit and play by its rules. No matter what, if you keep at it, you will come out the victor and discover that this game is by far one of the best and most rewarding of 2011!
Dark Souls is a refreshing game that is annoyingly hard in the beginning. Then you begin to learn how it works and then it gets even harder. It still remains fair though. Highly recommeneded but maybe not for the more casual gamers.
very tough game. But its really satisfying when you finaly destroy your boss.! Its a OBLIGATION for all RPG players and worth your time!
Perfect action RPG in which one assumes the role of the 10 heroes. You have a choice - Warrior, Archer, Assassin, Thief ... etc The main task is to collect souls and subsequently exchanged for weapon upgrades, armor and different things. The game is terribly hard to - incredibly many times you die there but it impossible to play but you. Enemy is hard to kill because almost all use a shield and a perfect hiding behind the shield. As in real life as well, there is something like fatigue. The stronger the ligament attack, the sooner you get tired. The same is true for the enemy. Enemies have a better and bigger guns than you and this is your opportunity - see above. Jena is definitely of the best RPG of 2011 and recommend it every hardcore players My rating - 5 stars
You'll be tossed into a world filled with demons and dangers that will use tons of tricks just to kill you, and they will succeed some times, you will be focused as your gaming senses will be pushed to the edge. You're going to need to learn how to survive and proceed to victory the hard way of death. This game is amazing, and I had great time with it, and when I noticed that it was possible to face all of the challenges in your path together with people sharing the very same goal on line, it was an amazing experience from start to end. Challenging, but rewarding.
Dark Souls requires intense focus, This isn't a lighthearted romp in a bright and colourful fantasy world; it's a methodical journey into the frightening unknown and that's what makes it so riveting. Some games try to scare you with bump-in-the-night shocks and far-off howls, but Dark Souls doesn't require such predictable methods of terror. Its terrors emanate from its very core, each step bringing you closer to another inevitable death. How amazing that such a terrible place could be so inviting. The game's world is so memorable, and its action so thrilling, that it might invade your thoughts even when you aren't playing, silently urging you to escape the real world and return to this far more treacherous one. Dark Souls doesn't just surpass other dungeon crawlers; it skewers them with a razor-sharp halberd and leaves behind their soulless corpses.
