the best licensed comic-book adaptation ever!

This is exactly the open-ended batman experience fans have been waiting for. It may not be as big as titles like skyrim or fallout,(which is that's to be expected) The environment still feels large enough, combat system is really fluid and fun and after gears of war 3, its safe to say this is best usage of unreal engine 3! Lighting and general texture quality is clearly better than the first Arkham game and Arkham City is an immersive playground for the cape crusader. All of the comic-book,detective aspects and the coolest batman gadgets are at your disposal, everything from the portrayal of the villians, voice acting, orchestral score is top-notch! (especially the music in the main menu, it gives me chills! it has an elfman meets zimmer-esque feel to it.) Overall, this game is an exceptional achievement for an adaptation and I would recommend it to any comic-book fan out there without any hesitation!

The game itself is a great combination of open world sandbox game with intense corridor action. Main story is catching and side mission are intense that makes player collect all items and challenges. From my perspective one of the best sequels in last decade.

The dark knight

Batman: Arkham City sees the return of the Dark Knight to Gotham. Once again this game is 3D compatible, and also comes with DLC to play as Catwoman. The game is fantastic and well put together. The gameplay and style is very similar to Arkham Asylum, but on a whole new level. You also meet some more of the well known super villians. A must have for any Batman fan.

An improvement on an almost flawless game.

Arkham Asylum was a truly surprising game for me. I couldn't imagine the game could love up to the hype, but it did. Taking its predecessor and building on it heavily, making the game feel less linear than before has resulted in an unfathomable improvement. The combat system is still as smooth as before but the cast, map and Riddler Trophy's have been greatly improved upon. This is a must have game.

How superheroes should be portrayed in games!

Title says it all! If you liked Arkham Asylum, the for sure you will love Arkham city, as it improves in almost every area of game play. Perfect for any superhero fan and is so much better than most of the other adventure games out there . Fighting combos are tough to pull off, satisfying, whilst hunting for the Riddler's clue is challenging and uses you detective brain extensively. . . . All in all it a must! 9/10

Bats in the City

When you enjoyed the first Batman adventure, exploring Arkham Asylum you won´t be disapointed with this game. The expansion from the small, mostly playing in indoor levels, asylum to the big city was successful. The new techniques to get around the city are working well and are lots of fun. The story and the atmosphere of the game are still good, but not as exellence as in the first part. There are some unexpected twists in the main and side missions, and none of the twists are cheap, but overall i didn´t felt quite invested in the story or immersed in the world. (hence the 4 stars). Almost every part of what made arkham asylum great is back and improved. The exploring is now done in the beautiful depressing arkham city, the fight mechanics are improved through more quickfire gadgets, the leveling with batman is still fun and the riddler outdid himself. For people that don´t like to collect every little thing or complete challenges the riddler will be a pain. There are over 400 challenges from the known "collect the questionmark" over "align the questionmark" and "find the picture" to "break a lot of a kind of stuff" and physical challenges. After completing the main story (and i didn´t ignore the questionmarks) I had 235 and played another 7 hours and still don´t have all of them. But every challenge is unique and require different solutions, so if you like riddles....you get riddles (not like other games where you just have to know where to look. I´m looking at you assassins creed ;) ) The Catwoman DLC is ok and she is controlled distinctive enough from batman, but jumping and puncing around with a too stereotypical sexy catwoman isn´t as fun as gliding through the night with the batman. Buy this game if you at least a bit interested. It´s worth it, you don´t even have to play the first one because they don´t reference it that much and for everybody who needs a little history lesson there are plenty of background infos to get, once you have enough, or the right, riddles.

Amazing game didn't play the first one so cant compare it in that respect but I found few glitches in the game, it is all so smooth and the action is awesome It really never gets old for me. Would recommend to anyone 25 quid from here was a steal. ON X BOX

Masterpiece

You're now looking at the best games to be released 2011. This game improves upon everything its predecessor did right and moves Batman from the halls of Arkham Asylum into a whole district, the Arkham City. Here you can glide across a large area and swoop down upon unsuspecting crooks, or using Batmans patended gadets to bring an end to them. This game is more than worth the asked price and everything about the game is TOP NOTCH, everything from graphics, to voice-acting to music and sound effects. Flawless victory, indeed.

The following of the award winning Batman Arkham Asylum. The game takes the best from the first episode and add an open world to the game. You can now go wherever you want in Arkham City. Play the main story or hang around kicking some bad guys and doing some subsidiary missions. A must play !

Batman: Arkham City is a very nice, well designed game. Once you're on the title screen the first thing you'll notice is the impressive soundtrack and very distinctive graphics style. It has a dark feel to it and is more like the comic books than the recent Batman movies. The game play area is a prison district in Gotham City, where you are free to move and do quests in any order you want. This makes this game less tiresome, as you'll decide what, when and how to play. Voice acting is superb, animations are great and performance is very smooth. There are many improvements to the previous game, Arkham Asylum. Playing as Cat woman, for example, is a nice addition. Overall, this game is worth it.

Only played the game for 2 hours but its shaping up to be excellent. I have the first batman game which is one of is a classic. Only bad thing would be is that there is no training level as such which would of been a nice refresher. I am sure that I will pick it up quick enough as the controls are quite easy. All in all its looking to be another top notch game.

Perfect game

Shortly put: better than the predecessor, which was the best superhero (and Xbox) game I've ever played. I've never been a fan of Batman, but tried the first game because of the good reviews, and I sure am glad I did. Arkham City takes the combat, story and, well, everything to the next level! Thoroughly enjoyable experience!

Believe the hype...

Quite simply the best game on the Xbox. Fact... It's said that great art is arrived at only when you get to the point where you can take nothing more away. Admittedly, in this case, they have added some truly beautiful improvements, but the simplicity with which it's executed is a masterpiece indeed. The intuitive combat system still remains, nearly unchanged, save for some new moves (and more still unlock able combos), a couple of new animations, and some new potential contextual interactions (The knife and stun baton enemies return from the first one, joined by guys with a love for shields, and a rather wonderful set of exclusive takedown moves...) boost the fighting to be a beautiful achievement of flawless violence. It really does make you feel like the Dark Knight. The challenge mode returns also, with some wonderfully devised combat maps, as well as more predator maps to test your stealth. The graphics are incredible. The sprawling dump / metropolis that is Arkham City is brought to life with an interactive beauty rarely found in computer games. All of the characters from Batman's universe are there, including some lesser-known villains, and there are some beautiful touches that really enhance the replay value - one in particular being the staggered interactions with 'Calendar Man' that will keep you playing until at least this time next year. The riddler statues and challenges return with their trademark variable difficulties - the first few are a breeze, but you'll need real determination, and sleuth skills comparable to the Dark Knight himself. This will, of course, be rewarded heavily, and a wonderful touch is that in order to 100% all the side missions (Yes - it's far more free-roam) you'll actually have to put the effort in to find them all. With so much to do, and such a beautiful environment to do it in, you'll be hard-pushed to find a better way to spend your time. It's the world's premier Batman simulator, and it delivers more than I think anyone was expecting. The story is fantastic, immersive, believable, well-referenced and deeply satisfying. They capture Batman's moral difficulties perfectly, and Catwoman shows up periodically to vary the game up in a strategically phenomenal way - just when you think it's all over, there is help at hand.... A true masterpiece, head and shoulders above any other games at the moment, and easily the jewel in the comic-crossover crown.

Incredible sequel to Arkham Asylum

Well the title says it all - this is one superbly crafted sequel to Arkham Asylum! This game is huge and filled with more things to discover than its predecessor. Complete the main story and be amazed that your game completion score is not even at 50%! Visually stunning also as we've come to expect of the series, the voice acting is top notch as well and the story is compelling - ensuring you won't want to stop playing this title for some time. Can't recommend any more, definitely one of the best games to arrive this year!
