Description

Max Payne 3 is another game in a long series of quality games developed and published by Rockstar. With amazing gameplay, fantastic voice-acting, a great soundtrack, a solid campaign with clever plot-twists and a seriously fun multiplayer, Max Payne 3 is a must-buy for any gamer. In response to detractors claiming that Rockstar has lost the plot and ruined the noir feel of the game, I say poppycock. Yes, the setting is more colourful and vibrant, unlike a noir film which is traditionally black and white in an urban environment. But that's not the sum of what noir is. There's still Max, the tragic hero, Passos, a friend with questionable loyalties, Sao Paulo, a town where nothing is as it seems and a compelling and dark story.

Max Payne 3 is good, but by no means great very repetitive. I started playing it after I completed Future Soldier, so there was no comparison because Future Soldier was more than excellent.

Bought Max Payne 3 for my husband from my kids for Father's Day. He was very pleased with the game, it's wonderful and he has great fun playing it.
Terrible game. Being a fan of the Max Payne series I thought this had taken a wrong turn. Loading cut scenes are too long which you can't skip, pills are too infrequent so you die alot, hiding behind cover actually fails to work and the story is very linear which I did not expect after Rockstar took over. The only good thing about this game is bullet time which is always fun, however Red Dead Redemption does a much better job in my opinion. Just deeply disappointed with this game.

I was waiting for this game for months and months. Rockstar did a really good job; the story mode is awesome, graphic are awesome and multiplayer mode gives this 5 star game an extra-life.
Good game, just not a Max Payne game
Max Payne 3 is good fun overall, but for those expecting something similar to the previous two games then you may be disappointed. The game-play is exactly the same, but with a few new additions to bring it in line with the various other 3rd person shooter (cover system most notably), and the game feels well paced; you aren't overwhelmed with wave after wave of enemies but there is enough to prove a challenge. The story is where it lets itself down, the departure from the 1st 2 games settings is explained ok but the overall feel of the story just isn't the same as you'd want from a Max Payne game. It's a good game but it's in the middle of Uncharted (brilliant) and Kane & Lynch (terrible) for me.
Max Brings The Pain!!!!!!
Max is back and his own brand of depression is incredibly funny, the writing and voice acting are in perfect harmony. The story, in my opinion, is great. The whole world of Max Payne has always been a strange mix of gritty realism, pain, humour, chaos and ridiculousness, and this is no different in that respect. I was dubious of the action moving to Brazil, but it feels natural and becomes a welcome change of scenery. With this change though, they've opted for cutscenes to do a lot of the storytelling as opposed to the old 'comic book' style, for want of a better description. This was odd at first but I soon loved it and the way it blended into the action. Like many have said, the whole experience is like playing through a great film. The gameplay is amazing, the difficulty is high as it stays true to its roots. Normal difficulty is like hard in other games, but this is rewarding as you only die because you did not make use of your bullets. Every bullet counts and going for the headshot is crucial. It also helps to use bullet time efficiently to clear the enemies. The campaign is a lengthy 12 hours consisting of 14 chapters. There is a lot of replayability, playing the campaign again on a harder difficulty to get all the trophies, going online to rack up some kills in the various addicting modes or playing arcade mode to get the highest score in each level of the campaign. This game is a definite must buy for anyone who is a fan of the Max Payne series, or who likes shooting games and story driven games. It also has an amazing soundtrack!
