As with his films, the plot of the Stranglehold simply serves as a platform to provide an intense, high-octane shooter that rarely pauses to take a breath.

Gaming veterans will instantly note a similarity to Max Payne, a hugely popular franchise of the early 2000s. This similarity is not coincidental, however, as the makers of Max Payne drew heavily on the movies of John Woo. As in Max Payne, players will dive around in slow motion as they despatch foes. Also at the players disposal is the ability to use the environments to their advantage, sending signs crashing down onto enemies and shooting while running down rails or rolling on carts. Chaining stylish kills together fills up a meter allowing Inspector Tequila to unleash a number of powerful abilities.

Including a multiplayer mode to keep players entertained after completing the story, Stranglehold is an unrelenting feat from start to finish.
