Great Game, best in Total War series
Absolutely great game and still the best in the series. Factions are fairly diverse and the difference between the strategic and battle maps offers excellent variation of gameplay. The Barbarian Invasions expansion pack also adds a whole series of new challenges once you have gotten used to the gameplay of the original. Simply put, it is a lot of fun to mess with history: Carthage conquers Rome? A British Empire streching from the Atlantic to the Baltic? It's all doable (If sometimes a little challenging). If you have never played a Total War before maybe start with this one and look forward to the forthcoming Rome 2 sequel.
