In Skylanders Spyro's Adventure players take on the role of a powerful Portal Master who can control over 30 different characters, including the beloved fire-breathing dragon Spyro. Players will embark on a fantastical journey into an amazing world, where they will explore mysterious, mythical lands, battle menacing outlandish creatures, collect gold and treasures, and solve interesting puzzles while on a quest to save their world from Kaos, an evil Portal Master.
Skylanders Spyro's Adventure changes the way we look at toys and videogames, as well as how we interact with them by introducing action figures that become interaction figures and remember all of their dynamic experiences created in the game. For the first time ever, players can personally customize and power-up their toys, as well as bring them to life on a friend's Portal of Power for co-op play and player-versus-player arena battles. Additionally, with the freedom to change characters whenever they like, Skylanders Spyro's Adventure allows kids to utilize different interaction figures and strategies each time they play.
Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure creates a whole new genre, bringing together the world of toys and videogames. Your action figure becomes an interaction figure.
Skyland has been conquered by Chaos, its protectors frozen and banished to earth. You are the Portal Master, controller of the Portal of Power. Only you can unfreeze Spyro and his pals and rescue Skyland from Chaos' villainous clutches.
Each toy is a protector of Skyland, frozen by Chaos and banished to earth as a toy. Place your toy on the Portal of Power to watch them appear in the game ready to do your bidding, well, you are the Portal Master after all. If a second player wants to join the game at anytime, add their toy, next to the first toy on the Portal of Power, and they will join you. If you need to change your character to access their unique abilities simply switch out your current toy and put another on the Portal of Power.
The toys themselves offer many features, providing you with a host of new characters and abilities to help Spyro save the day once again.

- Elemental: Each character is linked to an element which grants them unique abilities. You, the Portal Master, must co-ordinate their abilities to progress through the challenges that lie ahead
- Sociable: They also work from console to console so you can take them around to a friend's house to play

Addictive Gameplay
I found the gameplay of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure fast and mostly intuitive, and some of the later levels often quite challenging. As a long time fan of the little purple dragon, it makes me smile from ear to ear to be able to play as Spyro (and his new friends) in 3D too. It makes you want to play more and more - and with add on worlds as well as online interactive capability, there's more than enough to keep players both young and young-at-heart entertained.
Spyro's Adventure
The pack is presented very well, you receive a Portal and three Skylanders; Dark Spyro (exclusive to this pack), Ignitor, and Stealth Elf, and the game. Setting up was easy. The portal works wirelessly so no need to worry about cables. The game is not the same as on other platforms (we also have the xbox360 game). On Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Starter Pack (Xbox 360) the missions are not as clever as the Xbox but I don't think that makes it a bad game. The downside is you can't swap a Skylander in mid game, you have to go back to speak to a character who will allow you to change them - which doesn't make it as enjoyable as the Xbox where you can swap in mid fight. I like it, and it's a good game for the 3DS.
