Description
A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity... but who is watching the watchmen?

Great
This really is great, I knew nothing of the reputation when watching the film but was really entertained, I have to admit it though, it took a few times watching it to fully understand, but great every time!
Watchmen - my opinion
I made a mistake by reading the comic novel first. The novel was far better and a deeper experience than the movie. But the movie was well done and the role-playing was also done well. The world from the comic was well copied and with moving pictures one could gain an interesting new aspect. Also, DVD was subtitled in Finnish and Swedish so it was easier to follow the story line. After all this is very good movie with good action and respects the original comic novel pretty well.

Okay but not great
This is an enjoyable movie and the special effects are really something else. However if you're after an all out action super hero movies this isn't it. The trailers portray it as being much more action packed and intense than it actually is.
