THE VAMPIRE LOVERS and LUST FOR VAMPIRE are the first two instalments of Hammer's Karnstein Trilogy. Based upon the writings of celebrated author J. Sheridan Le Fanu, both films gained immense notoriety upon their original release of their sexual overtones, erotically charged horror and explicit scenes depicting lesbianism. Highly influential to this day, the Karnstein films brought the vampire legend into the modern age.
