True Blood - Seasons 1-2 Box Set DVD

True Blood is a supernatural drama based on the Sookie Stackhouse Mystery novels by author Charlaine Harris. It takes place in the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, in the not too distant future, where vampires and humans uneasily co-exist. This is due to the development of TruBlood, a synthetic liquid created by the Japanese that slakes a vampires thirst. They can now survive without the need to feed on humans ("need" being the operative word). Since coming out of the coffin the vamps are finding it increasingly difficult to integrate into mainstream society though. Mass media has made it impossible for the blood-suckers to live down their seedy behaviour and the churches are declaiming that God Hates Fangs. While anti-discriminatory debates are taking place on TV, most of the Bon Temps residents have still made it very clear they wont take kindly to Vampires. All except for innocent, mind-reading waitress Sookie Stackhouse, who finds herself drawn to ex Civil war soldier and now vampire Bill Compton. When Bill walks into Merlottes, the local watering hole and Sookie's place of work she can't hear his thoughts. For the first time Sookie is able let her guard down and be herself, which leads to all kinds of complications. While her family and friends (Jason, Sookie's hot-tempered brother; Sam Merlotte, her overprotective boss; fiesty best friend Tara; and Lafayette, Merlotte's grill cook by day and town prostitute) question her motives, a serial killer is on the loose, murdering women close to Sookie and Jason.
