Although I wasn’t as big a fan of series 4 as I was of the first 3, I decided to buy the Series 4 DVD because of the audio commentary that’s billed as a ‘Guide to Sitcom Writing’. Although it’s maybe not as structured as I would have liked, it does contain some nuggets of information and some good ideas that any aspiring sitcom writers are likely to find useful. I particularly liked hearing the way Graham Linehan constructs the plots using index cards. I was happy to buy the DVD for the audio commentary alone so the way I see it, I also get the full series for free.
