When the water supply falls and a neighbour dies suddenly, Molly becomes increasingly obsessed with unravelling the secrets of the villa's enigmatic owner and of the British expatriates and locals they encounter. Molly's libidinous father, Haverford Downs, is on hand to help with the mysteries while also setting his sights on a rich widow.
