It was originally called 'You'll Never Get Rich' but later had its title changed to 'The Phil Silvers Show' but to its fans' across the globe it's known simply as 'Bilko', the memorable name of one of the greatest comedy characters ever to grace the small screen. Woefully under-appreciated in its home country, the series has always been feted in the UK and has regularly made the top tens of 'Best Sitcom' lists and is even recognised as the greatest ever sitcom from either side of the Atlantic in the prestigious Radio Times Guide to TV Comedy. Now for the first time anywhere the Complete Series is available on DVD in this 20 disc set with a host of all new bonus extras.

Bought this as a present. Recipient over the moon.
Ive seen most of the 130odd episodes of Sgt Bilko, and there are three episodes that stay clear in my memory. When Bilko buys a racehorse, and tries to exercise it at night, so that Col Hall will not discover its presence on the base. Private Speakup, where a Chimpanzee is accidentally drafted into the US army, and excels in certain tests, even achieving higher scores than some of the Motor pool mechanics. The Bing Crosby episode, is almost worth the purchase of this dvd set alone. Even though the series is approaching its 60th birthday extremely quickly, when scripts and comedy timing are this great, its a series that will never date. Thank goodness its been released in its entirety, and its a comedy that will still amuse those viewers who have never seen or heard of Sgt Ernest Bilko.
