THE NEXT GENERATIONS
Could there be a worthy follow-upto the most-watched miniseries ever? "We felt the other did so well," Alex Haley said, " that we should just let it hang there." But Alex began carrying around a tape recorder, dictating more of his family's tales as they came to his memory. Those remembrances filled 1,000-page transcript: raw material got Roots: The Next Generations.
Winner of the Emmy for Best Limited Series, this landmark continuation of a landmark event - with 53 stars and 235 speaking parts - "is in many respects a superior achievement," Newsweek said in comparing this to Roots. Even now, it has lost none of its dramatic and emotional power to make us confront history and examine ourselves. One man's family remains everyone's!

Roots
Quite some time ago Roots was a TV series and it was compulsive viewing for all. The story, in the days of the thirteen English American colonies, impresses with its perceived authenticity and really strikes the imagination. But the actual opening episodes deal with black people's lives in Africa before being taken as slaves. I am pleased to have found and made this purchase and, as I found quite some time ago now, for me it remains compulsive viewing again. Younger members of my family are also somewhat transfixed by the evolving story. Excellent value and a must have for anyones video library.
