Why does Richard Drew (Tom Hanks), eccentric violinist and American bachelor, step off a plane in Washington, DC wearing one red shoe? The CIA wants to know, and their investigation is just the beginning of this rollicking undercover comedy.

Add an exciting romantic twist when glamorous tour guide Maddy Drove (Lori Singer) is assigned to trail him but falls in love instead. While Drew doesn't know why he's being shot at, mugged, chased and seduced, Maddy spends her time trying to save him from her own employers, Cooper and Ross (Dabney Coleman and Charles Durning).

Meanwhile, the practical joker Morris (Jim Belushi), finds not one but four dead bodies in his buddy Drew's apartment, at the same time Morris' love-starved wife Paula (Carrie Fisher) tries to make music with our favourite violinist. It's been a crazy day for Drew, and will be for you too when you see why he's wearing that one red shoe.
