In the 19th Century-set story, Jane Eyre (Mia Wasikowska) suddenly flees Thornfield Hall, the vast and isolated estate where she works as a governess for Adèle Varens, a child under the custody of Thornfield's brooding master, Edward Rochester (Michael Fassbender).
The imposing residence – and Rochester's own imposing nature – have sorely tested her resilience. With nowhere else to go, she is extended a helping hand by clergyman St. John Rivers (Jamie Bell) and his family. As she recuperates in the Rivers' Moor House and looks back upon the tumultuous events that led to her escape, Jane wonders if the past is ever truly past...

Jane Eyre
I thoroughly enjoyed this adaptation of my favourite book. It was faithful to the book, yet interestingly chose to start in the middle of the book when Jane is at the cross-roads of her life. The screenplay is excellent - all the key speeches are all in there and convey perfectly the intellectual and spiritual connection between Jane and Mr Rochester. I was a bit doubtful about Michael Fassbender in the role of Mr Rochester. He is a little bit too handsome, but he captured perfectly the cynicism of the world weary man who is captivated by the searing honesty of Jane but is afraid and distrustful of his heart. As to Mia Wasikowska she brought the freshness and innocence, yet steely, character of Jane to life and at last an actress who was unafraid to appear plain and so kept faith with the true spirit of the book. Really the best adaptation I have seen and I have watched them all.

Jane Eyre
I found this a very refreshing update on the Jane Eyre of years ago, great for the romantics among us.

Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre was not has good has I thouhgt it would be. It kept going back to her childhood and I thought the ending was very bad.
