Regarded as Wembley's finest finale, this was the final where the best was definitely saved until last. With United competing in their third final of the late 70's and Arsenal looking to avenge their shock defeat to Ipswich the previous year, the stage was set for a heavyweight showdown between two of the country's most prestigious teams in the very last final of the decade.
Arsenal started brightly, and goals from Talbot and Stapleton ensured a 2-0 half-time lead, and they were coasting, with Talbot set to become the first player in history to win the FA Cup in successive seasons with two different clubs, having helped Ipswich to Cup glory the previous year.
The second half continued in very much the same manner as the first, until the match entered the final five minutes when it all changed to the most amazing degree. Gordon McQueen bundled home what many thought was a mere consolation on 86 minutes, and then astonishingly Sammy McIlroy turned the game on its head as he steered the ball past Jennings to make it 2-2.
Arsenal had now plunged from the lofts of elation to the depths of despair within the space of two minutes, and with United brimming with confidence, it looked as though they would be the team that would eventually be taking the Cup home.
But the greatest drama was yet to come, as the Gunners still found the effort to pick themselves up and drive forward once again, and when Alan Sunderland stole in to beat Gary Bailey at the back post it capped off the most remarkable finish ever seen in an FA Cup final.
What a final to end an incredible decade, and we see it all over again, with the full match in its entirety and post-match interviews from the Wembley tunnel.
