    "X5" is the brilliant six disc box set by the Scottish rock band Simple Minds. The band are very well known for their legendary song "Don't You (Forget About Me)" which appeared in the iconic 80s film The Breakfast Club.

    This album was released to coincide with their exclusive European "5X5 Live" tour. With each date the band plan to play five songs from each of their first five albums: "Life In A Day", "Real To Real Cacophony", "Empires And Dance", "Sons And Fascination/Sister Feelings Call" and "New Gold Dream".

    Within this box set, the album "Sons And Fascination/Sister Feelings Call" has been split on to two seperate discs. Each disc within this album also includes previously unavailable tracks and live renditions of their material, as well as B-sides, remixes, and other rare songs.

    "X5" is a brilliant compilation of the most popular albums and songs by Simple Minds, and contains exclusive tracks that would complete any fan's collection. (Cat Emerson)

    Class box set of the first 6 Simple Minds album, great sound quality discs in replica card sleeves inside a good looking box. All remastered and expanded with bonus tracks all relevant to their releases as b-sides and 12" extended tracks, remixes & live tracks. The first 2 albums "Life In A Day" & "Real To Real Cacophony" have a lovely garage style sound to them with a new wave sound. The 3rd album "Empires And Dance" is recorded in better studios (as the band progressed) and has a greater studio sound with the dance music influential "I Travel" later to become a great dance remix of the noughties. The 4th & 5th albums "Sons And Fascination" & "Sister Feelings Call" both produced by Steve Hillage (Gong) are well remastered with their relevant bonus tracks in an excellent sound quality, 2 of my favourite albums in this box set. The 6th album "New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84) is also one of the best in the box, gloriously remastered with six bonus tracks and an absolute diamond of an album. Well worth the money, well packaged and a great introduction to the early Simple Minds, cheap and a entertaining listen, well recommended. Let's hope the next 6 studio albums are released in a similar release in the future, maybe titled X6?
