    “Born to Die” is Lana Del Rey's major label studio debut. The album draws heavily upon its indie roots, but isn't afraid to reference to more distant past, with allusions made to the eighties in both the writing and the sound. Del Rey's voice is given ample space to move and effect throughout the recording, with “Video Games” and “Blue Jeans” being particularly good examples of this. Slow burning and sensuous, this is an album that is sure to stay with listeners long after they hear it for the first time. (Adam Bibby)
