“A Victim of Stars 1982-2012” is the double disc fifth compilation album released by the English singer/song writer David Sylvian, who is well known as being the lead vocalist for the renowned new wave band Japan. This is the first compilation album released by Sylvian in over two years, and is the follow up to “Sleepwalkers”, which was released in 2010.
The double disc record features the best of David Sylvian's work through the years of 1982-2012. The first disc compiles sixteen tracks of both remixes and remasters of songs that Sylvian has released in the past thirty years. This includes a remix of his brilliant hit single “Ghost”, as well as a remaster that was done in 2003 of the song “Pulling Punches”, amongst others.
The second disc brings you fifteen tracks that amply display Sylvian's musical progression, from his pop-punk era in the 1980s, which led through to incorporating electronica elements via jazz through the 90s to 2000s. One track on this disc is a brand new, never before heard song called “Where's Your Gravity”. This means that “A Victim of Stars 1982-2012” has something that every David Sylvian fan can enjoy, from old to brand spanking new material, and everything in between. (Cat Emerson)
