Released in 1995, “The Great Escape” was one of the more controversial albums released by Blur. Some hailed it as fantastic, whilst others derided it as a major disappointment when compared to their previous album “Parklife”. Whether it is better or worse than its predecessor is very much a matter of opinion, as both share a number of features in terms of subject matter and sound. Some of the best tracks on the album are “Country House”, “The Universal”, Stereotypes”, and “Charmless Man”. A lesser known gem that is all too often overlooked, "The Great Escape" should be heard before it is dismissed. (Adam Bibby)
