Sweet Sour - Band of Skulls CD

"Sweet Sour" is the eagerly anticipated second studio album by the English alternative rock group Band Of Skulls. This record is the follow up to their debut studio album "Baby Darling Doll Face Honey", which was released in 2009.

The album is a storming, stomping production, carried predominantly by heavy guitar riffs and chord progressions, accentuated with reverb and distortion to add massive effect and power. This is combined with intricate and thunderously rolling bass lines, as well as choicely placed drum beat breakdowns.

Featured on this album is the lead single "The Devil Takes Care Of His Own", which rises up from a slow building and minimalistic introduction in to an eruption of energetic rock melodies. The vocals of singers Russell Marsden and Emma Richardson blend together perfectly, the harmonies both contrasting and complimenting each other brilliantly to properly carry their lyrics through.

"Sweet Sour" is yet another musical triumph for Band Of Skulls, and is another incredible addition to their steadily growing discography. Superb. (Cat Emerson)
