From the producers of Band of Brothers, The Pacific tracks the real-life journeys of three U.S. Marines--Robert Leckie (James Badge Dale), Eugene Sledge (Joe Mazzello) and John Basilone (Jon Seda)--across the vast canvas of the Pacific Theatre during World War II. The extraordinary experiences of these men and their fellow Marines take them from the first clash with the Japanese in the haunted jungles of Guadalcanal, through the impenetrable rain forests of Cape Gloucester, across the blasted coral strongholds of Peleliu, up the black sand terraces of Iwo Jima, through the killing fields of Okinawa, to the triumphant, yet uneasy, return home after V-J Day.

Excellent watch, could watch The Pacific - Tin Box Edition over and over again. My wife even liked it.
The Pacific is first class! The acting and scenes are brilliant. This is a must see for anyone who likes war films. Well worth the money.
Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg continue to slowly cover all the fronts of WWII. The Pacific is an isn't at the same time Band of Brothers at the Pacific. It stands on its own two feet as a discreet storyline that doesn't need its older brother to help define it. It suffers, or benefits, from the same things BoB did - for the action fan the slower paced episodes will break the flow of things, but they allow us to dive deeper into the characters and their motivations. It doesn't cater to action-hungry viewers all the time every time and requires patience at times to appreciate what is on offer. For the history-buff there are ample documentaries and information about the period, marines and the war. Get this on Blu-ray for the supreme quality and ease of use when it comes to the extra materials.
