It is a solid, enjoyable film.

I watched this film with no expectations, I vaguely remember seeing a trailer around the time it was in cinemas. I found the film enjoyable for what it is, the story is not complex or particularly deep, but takes you to the end with some good moments. I found the opening scenes and beginning to be excellent and very atmospheric, the ending was a little anticlimactic and the twist lacked the gravitas it possibly could have in other directorial hands. Overall the performances are good Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman have a good presence and I particularly enjoyed Michael Gambon and Frances de la Tour in their cameos. It is a good film and a decent bluray transfer, I shall certainly keep hold of it and will enjoy another watch.

    Book of Hope

The first time I saw the trailer for this movie, I thought to myself that this could be one of the best films of the year. And when I say one of the best films of the year, im not referring in the perspective of Hollywood but from the standpoint of content and enjoyment. Denzel Washington makes a spectacular role, being the main star in this film. I for once was expecting a little more from Gary Oldman as the "badass villan" and the rest of the cast are at the level you were expecting, fulfilling the role. The final sequence in this movie is brilliant and leaves us wondering: - "How it is to love and protect something ...blindly!? "
