Steve Martin and John Candy star in John Hughes' classic tale of holiday travel gone awry. Neal Page (Martin) is an uptight advertising executive trying to get home to Chicago for Thanksgiving. When his flight is rerouted to Wichita, he reluctantly partners with Del Griffith (Candy), an obnoxious yet loveable salesman. Together, they embark on a cross-country adventure that includes various modes of transportation, hilarious mishaps, and unforgettable rental car shenanigans. Planes, Trains and Automobiles is "a screwball comedy with a heart" (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times). Loaded with special features, the "Those Aren't Pillows!" Edition is a perfect holiday treat that lasts all year.

This is one of John Hughes`s finest films and is wrongly overlooked by some people when his career is discussed. The script is ingenuous and the two lead actors both do a wonderful job. There is great chemistry between them and the film is both funny and moving.
Remember watching Planes, Trains and Automobiles at the cinema in the 80's and found the experience spoilt by an individual who bellowed out loud spitting bits of their hot dog around every time someone breathed!!!! After hearing a conversation at work decided to purchase the blu-ray and now realise what I missed. Gloriously funny and engrossing from start to finish with numerous memorable moments. Not many films make me laugh out loud but this did much to the annoyance of my fellow viewers. How the circle has been closed, I can now sympathise and demonstrate understanding the to individual who ruin my first viewing all those years ago. Hoorah for re-living the moment!
Planes, Trains and Automobiles is an amazing feel good comedy with the brilliant double act of my favourite American comedy actors John Candy and Steve Martin. The John Hughes classic makes us remember there are real good people in this world in spite of the differences between us.
