Description
Julian Fellowes' hit drama Downton Abbey returns for a second series with all the regular cast including Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Brendan Coyle, Joanne Froggatt and Dan Stevens. Returning to Downton Abbey in 1916, we see the effects of The First World War on the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who work for them.
The new series sees the return of all the much loved characters whose intertwined lives are rendered more complicated by wartime and its impact on the great house itself. And when the storms of war have finally cleared, will the way of life known by all the inhabitants of Downton have changed forever?

What is there to say? Downton Abbey series 2 was fantastic. Julian Fellows has once again brought us great drama. The cast are all superbly suited to their roles. I feel so sorry for poor Edith, she, as the middle child quite often is, is sidelined by her prettier sisters, but her heart is in the right place at last, and her gentle way with the officers at Downton shows her in her true colours. A really kindhearted person. If only her short truce with Mary could last! Roll on series 3, and many more. And I totally disagree with those who say it is just another Upstairs Downstairs. It is so not!!! This has far more talented writers, actors and production crews. Maybe it's just that this is written for todays audiences.
